As the Kentucky Wildcats prepare to face the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, they are contending with significant injury challenges. Guards Lamont Butler and Jaxson Robinson have been ruled out for the game. Butler sustained a shoulder injury during the second half of the Wildcats’ victory over Tennessee on February 11 and has missed the last two games.
Robinson is recovering from a wrist sprain incurred before the South Carolina game and has been absent for the past three games. Both players have been increasing their practice participation, with Butler engaging in modified live action and Robinson focusing on skill drills. While there’s a slim chance Butler could return in the upcoming games against Oklahoma or Auburn, Robinson is expected to be back by the SEC Tournament.
Head coach Mark Pope, who took over the program in April 2024, expressed optimism about their progress but emphasized the need for other team members to step up in their absence.
The Wildcats’ defense has shown significant improvement recently, climbing up the metrics and demonstrating resilience. Despite the injury setbacks, the team aims to maintain this momentum against Alabama.
The game against Alabama is crucial for Kentucky’s standing in the SEC, and the team is determined to overcome these challenges and put forth a strong performance.
