Recruiting War Heats Up: Auburn Battles SEC Rivals for Elite OL Prospect!

Auburn is still in the running for a promising offensive line prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. Edward Baker, a three-star lineman from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, has included the Tigers in his top seven schools. Alongside Auburn, he is considering Alabama, NC State, Virginia, Arkansas, Florida, and Tennessee.

During his junior year, Baker played a crucial role in helping St. Frances Academy finish the season as the No. 8-ranked team in the country. He was a key contributor to their impressive victory over powerhouse IMG Academy, solidifying his reputation as a rising talent in high school football.

As of now, Baker has not finalized his official visit schedule, but he does have a trip planned to NC State in June. While Auburn’s inclusion in his top schools suggests strong mutual interest, the Tigers have yet to secure a commitment from any offensive linemen in their 2026 class. According to 247 Sports, Auburn has extended 66 offers to offensive linemen but has not landed a commitment at the position.

One key connection between Baker and Auburn is his teammate, three-star safety Wayne Henry, who has already committed to the Tigers’ 2026 class. This existing relationship could work in Auburn’s favor as they try to convince Baker to join their program.

There is some debate about Baker’s future position at the college level. 247 Sports ranks him as an interior offensive lineman, while On3 sees him as an offensive tackle. However, his game film from his junior season shows him primarily playing right tackle. Regardless of where he lines up, Baker’s physical attributes—standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 310 pounds—make him a versatile player capable of succeeding at multiple positions on the offensive line.

Auburn is actively working to strengthen its offensive line group for the future, and Baker’s ability to play multiple positions makes him an appealing prospect. Whether the Tigers can secure an official visit from him remains uncertain, but being listed in his top seven schools indicates that they are still a strong contender for his commitment.

Currently, Auburn’s 2026 recruiting class ranks in the top 15 nationally, with six players already committed.
