Kentucky Wildcats React to Losing Jaxson Robinson for the Season
The Kentucky Wildcats will have to finish the remainder of their season without one of their key players, starting wing Jaxson Robinson. The BYU transfer is set to undergo wrist surgery, bringing an abrupt end to what had been a strong season for him. While Robinson’s absence will undoubtedly impact Kentucky on the court, his teammates were more concerned with the personal toll his injury has taken.
Following their game on Saturday, several players shared their thoughts on Robinson’s season-ending setback. Guard Koby Brea expressed both disappointment for the team and sympathy for his teammate:
> “It’s unfortunate. Super big loss for us as a team, but more importantly, just thinking about him,” Brea said. “He’s an amazing human being, so I hate to see him go down like that. We’re just going to continue to be there for him. He’s a super important piece to our team. He’s done great things for us, helped us along the way, and he’s going to continue to do that. But, most importantly, we’ve just got to be there for him.”
Forward Andrew Carr echoed Brea’s sentiment, emphasizing Robinson’s importance to the team and how his absence will serve as motivation:
> “As tough as it is for Jaxson — we all try to be there for him, and we know he would kill and die to be out there with us right now — everybody knows that we need to go out there and do it for him, if not for anything else. People are going to step up for us and for Jaxson.”
With Robinson sidelined, Kentucky now faces a significant challenge heading into the most crucial part of the season. Despite this, the Wildcats are adopting a “next-man-up” mentality, determined to push forward. Guard Lamont Butler acknowledged how difficult it will be without Robinson but reinforced his belief in the team’s ability to overcome adversity:
> “Definitely feel for Jax and praying for his speedy recovery,” Butler said. “It’s tough to be out for the season at this point, but we’re a resilient team.”
Robinson’s injury could shift expectations for the Wildcats, but they still have opportunities to make a statement. With critical games ahead and the SEC Tournament looming in Nashville, Kentucky will need to rally together. If they manage to adjust and perform at a high level, the Wildcats could enter the NCAA Tournament with renewed confidence, proving that they are capable of overcoming this setback.
