Kerr Kriisa’s Season Cut Short
Point guard Kerr Kriisa, who transferred from West Virginia, suffered a broken foot during Kentucky’s victory over Gonzaga in December. Despite undergoing surgery, his recovery has been slower than anticipated, leading to the decision that he will miss the remainder of the season. Kriisa has not practiced since his surgery and would require extensive conditioning even if fully healed. He is eligible for a medical redshirt, allowing the possibility of returning for a sixth season of college basketball, though it remains uncertain whether he will do so at Kentucky or elsewhere. Before his injury, Kriisa played nine games, averaging 4.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.
Jaxson Robinson Undergoes Successful Surgery
Guard Jaxson Robinson, a finalist for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award, underwent successful surgery on his right wrist, sidelining him for the rest of the season. Head coach Mark Pope described the procedure as “perfect,” noting that Robinson is recovering well. Despite his injury, Robinson plans to travel with the team during the SEC and NCAA Tournaments. Prior to his injury, Robinson had an impressive season in SEC play, averaging 14.4 points per game and shooting 46.2% from the floor, including 45.7% from three-point range.
Andrew Carr and Lamont Butler’s Impactful Returns
Forwards Andrew Carr and Lamont Butler have made significant contributions as they recover from earlier injuries. Carr delivered a standout performance with a double-double, recording 16 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists in Kentucky’s recent win over Missouri.
