Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Pope has delivered a resolute message to his team as they prepare for the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Emphasizing the program’s storied tradition and the lofty expectations that come with it, Pope stated, “We’re fully aware of the expectations here. That’s why we all came.” He further added, “We want to find a way to go win this NCAA Tournament, and we can’t wait to go do it.”
Addressing his personal coaching record in the NCAA Tournament, Pope dismissed any focus on individual accolades, asserting, “I didn’t come to Kentucky to make this about me. I have interest in our team, I have interest in this program, I have interest in this tradition.”
The Wildcats, seeded third in the Midwest Region, are set to face the 14th-seeded Troy Trojans in the first round on March 21st. Pope’s leadership and the team’s resilience throughout the season have positioned them as strong contenders, with aspirations of making a deep tournament run.
