Auburn Makes Major Johni Broome Announcement Before March Madness

Auburn Tigers star Johni Broome has received a prestigious honor just before the start of March Madness, as he has been named a unanimous first-team All-American by the Associated Press. The 6’10” senior forward/center has played a crucial role in Auburn’s success this season, leading a team that has secured the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and is considered by many experts as a strong contender for the national championship.

Broome has put together an impressive statistical season, averaging 18.9 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 0.9 steals per game while playing just under 30 minutes per contest. His dominant performances have helped Auburn compile an outstanding 28-5 overall record, including a 15-3 mark in SEC play.

Among his standout games this season, Broome delivered a dominant 31-point, 14-rebound performance against Georgia and a stellar 34-point, 8-rebound effort against Alabama, where he also added five blocks and three steals. His impact carried over into the SEC Tournament, where he posted 23 points and 15 rebounds in a key game against Ole Miss.

Head coach Bruce Pearl and the Auburn team are undoubtedly proud of Broome’s achievement, which reflects the hard work and dedication he has put in throughout the season. With the Tigers entering the tournament on a bit of a rough patch—losing three of their last four games—this recognition could serve as a timely boost in morale.

Broome now has a chance to leave his mark on the NCAA Tournament, looking to bounce back from last year’s disappointing first-round exit at the hands of Yale. With his elite skill set and leadership, he will be aiming to guide Auburn on a deep tournament run and justify their top seeding.
