
Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Pope has expressed strong confidence in his team’s readiness for the upcoming NCAA Tournament, highlighting the anticipated return of senior guard Lamont Butler as a pivotal factor. Butler, who had been sidelined due to a shoulder injury, is expected to rejoin the lineup, providing the Wildcats with a significant boost in both experience and skill.
The Wildcats, seeded No. 3, are set to face the No. 14 seed Troy Trojans in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the round of 64. Coach Pope commended his team’s resilience and hard work throughout the season, particularly noting their success despite having one of the lowest rankings in minutes continuity nationally. This year’s roster, with the exception of Butler, comprises players new to Kentucky and the SEC, making their achievements even more remarkable.
Pope is optimistic that Butler’s return will enhance the Wildcats’ in performance, aiming to translate the season’s lessons into tournament success and secure his first NCAA Tournament win as a head coach.
