Lindsey Vonn sets a record straight out of retirement

Skiing legend Lindsey Vonn has once again proven why she is one of the greatest athletes of all time. Despite retiring from professional skiing in 2019, Vonn stunned fans by setting a new record in a special alpine skiing event held in Aspen, Colorado.

Competing in a charity race against top current and former skiers, the 40-year-old Vonn clocked a blistering time in the downhill event, surpassing the previous record for the fastest non-World Cup downhill run on the course. Her time of 1:32.45 was a testament to her enduring skill and athleticism.

“I wasn’t planning on breaking any records—I just wanted to have fun and support a great cause,” Vonn said after the event. “But I guess once a racer, always a racer.”

Vonn, who retired due to persistent knee injuries, has remained active in the skiing world, training occasionally and mentoring young athletes. Her surprise return to the slopes for this race has reignited conversations about whether she might consider competing again, even in a limited capacity.

Fans and fellow athletes were in awe of her performance, with Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin commenting, “Lindsey is just unstoppable. It’s amazing to see her back in action.”

While Vonn has not announced any official return to competitive racing, her record-breaking run proves that she remains a dominant force in skiing, even years after retirement.
