Lindsey Vonn, the renowned American alpine ski racer, recently shared the heartbreaking news of her beloved dog, Lucy, passing away. Lucy, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, had been by Vonn’s side for nine years, providing companionship throughout her skiing career and beyond. Vonn announced Lucy’s passing on Instagram, expressing profound grief and highlighting the joy and love Lucy brought into her life. 

 

The news comes shortly after Vonn’s triumphant return to competitive skiing. At 40, she made history by becoming the oldest woman to medal in an alpine World Cup event, securing a silver in the Super-G race at the Audi FIS Ski World Cup finals in Sun Valley, Idaho. 

 

In response to Lucy’s passing, fellow athletes and fans have extended their condolences. Tennis stars Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, and Caroline Wozniacki shared heartfelt messages on Vonn’s Instagram post, offering support during this difficult time. 

 

Vonn’s bond with her pets has been well-documented. Previously, she shared the devastating news of her other dog, Leo, being diagnosed with cancer. Despite these personal challenges, Vonn continues to demonstrate resilience both on and off the slopes.
