Penn State Wrestling: Two Former Nittany Lions Transferring to Oklahoma State

As of April 2, 2025, there are no reports of former Penn State wrestlers transferring to Oklahoma State University. However, notable developments have occurred involving individuals associated with Penn State’s wrestling program and Oklahoma State:

David Taylor’s Appointment as Oklahoma State Head Coach

In May 2024, David Taylor, a distinguished former Penn State wrestler and Olympic gold medalist, was appointed as the head wrestling coach at Oklahoma State University. Taylor, a two-time NCAA champion with the Nittany Lions, succeeded John Smith, who retired after 33 seasons. This move was seen as a significant shift in the collegiate wrestling landscape.

Staff and Athlete Transitions

Following Taylor’s appointment, Jimmy Kennedy, previously an assistant coach at Penn State, joined Taylor’s staff at Oklahoma State as associate head coach. Additionally, Thomas Gilman, a member of the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club, transitioned to Oklahoma State to be part of Taylor’s coaching team.

Terrell Barraclough Transfers to Utah Valley University

In June 2024, former Penn State wrestler Terrell Barraclough announced his transfer to Utah Valley University. Barraclough, a Utah native, returned to his home state for his final year of eligibility, aiming for a more prominent role in the lineup.

While there have been significant movements involving former Penn State wrestling personnel, no reports indicate that former Nittany Lion wrestlers have transferred to Oklahoma State University as athletes.
