Shockwaves ripped through Cameron Indoor Stadium and beyond as Duke basketball fans noticed a glaring omission in the recently released Blue Devils team roster — sophomore standout Malik Harper.
Harper, who earned widespread admiration last season for his relentless hustle and highlight-reel plays off the bench, was expected to play a bigger role this year. Instead, fans were blindsided when Duke’s official athletics page dropped the updated lineup Monday morning, and Harper’s name was nowhere to be found.
“This can’t be real,” said Duke senior and superfan Jake McMillan. “Malik brought the fire every single game. To not even mention him? It’s disrespectful to the fans and to the kid.”
