In the wake of a tragic skiing accident that claimed the life of a guest at Black Mountain Ski Resort, the resort’s General Manager has issued a deeply emotional letter addressing the incident.
The heartfelt message, released Monday evening, expressed profound sorrow over the loss, extending condolences to the skier’s family, friends, and the wider community. “This is a heartbreaking time for all of us at Black Mountain,” the letter stated. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as they navigate this unimaginable loss.”
The skier, whose name has not yet been publicly released pending family notification, reportedly suffered fatal injuries after an accident on one of the intermediate trails on Sunday afternoon. Resort patrol and emergency services responded immediately, but the injuries proved to be too severe.
The General Manager also commended the quick response of ski patrol and first responders, and acknowledged the emotional impact on staff and guests who were present. “We are not just a resort; we are a close-knit community. The pain of this loss is felt deeply across our mountain family,” the letter continued.
In response to the tragedy, the resort has announced a temporary closure of the affected trail and is reviewing its safety protocols to prevent future incidents. A candlelight vigil is being planned to honor the skier’s memory.
The incident serves as a somber reminder of the inherent risks associated with winter sports and the importance of continued focus on mountain safety.
