Tragedy Strikes as 3 Heli-Skiers Presumed Dead After Avalanche

A heli-skiing expedition turned tragic on Monday as three skiers are presumed dead following a powerful avalanche in the remote backcountry near Revelstoke, British Columbia. The group was part of a guided tour operated by a local adventure company known for taking thrill-seekers to some of Canada’s most challenging and untouched slopes.

Authorities report that the avalanche occurred around 11:30 a.m. local time. Emergency crews were dispatched swiftly after a distress signal was triggered by a guide, but rescue efforts were hindered by unstable snow conditions and poor visibility. Despite hours of searching, the three missing skiers remain unaccounted for and are now presumed dead.

Search and rescue teams, accompanied by avalanche experts, are continuing recovery efforts while monitoring for further risks in the area. The identities of the missing individuals have not yet been released, pending notification of their families.

This incident raises renewed concerns about avalanche safety amid a season of heavy snowfall and fluctuating temperatures, which have significantly increased the risk of snow slides in the region.

Local officials have urged backcountry enthusiasts to exercise extreme caution and check avalanche forecasts before venturing out.
