12-Year-Old Killed in Skiing Accident at New England Resort

A tragic skiing accident claimed the life of a 12-year-old child at a popular New England ski resort over the weekend, authorities confirmed on Monday.

According to resort officials, the accident occurred late Sunday afternoon when the young skier lost control on an intermediate-level slope and collided with a tree. Ski patrol responded immediately and provided emergency medical care at the scene before the child was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of extended family. The resort, which is widely visited by families and recreational skiers, has expressed deep sorrow over the incident.

“Our hearts go out to the family during this incredibly difficult time,” said a spokesperson for the resort. “We are fully cooperating with local authorities in their investigation and reviewing all safety protocols.”

Local police and the state’s ski safety board have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether any safety measures were compromised.

This marks the first fatality at the resort in several years. Counseling services have been made available for staff and guests affected by the incident.
