Kentucky Wildcats Issue Emotional Farewell as Former Team Legend Passes On

The Kentucky Wildcats community continues to grieve as they remember one of their brightest young stars, Terrence Clarke, who tragically passed away in a car accident on April 22, 2021. Though several years have passed, the Wildcats issued an emotional tribute this week as part of a special memorial ceremony held to honor Clarke’s enduring legacy within the program.

Clarke, a Boston native, was just 19 years old when he died, only months after declaring for the NBA Draft. A five-star recruit and electric guard, he played for Kentucky during the 2020-2021 season. Despite his season being cut short due to injury, Clarke left an unforgettable impression on teammates, coaches, and fans.

In their official message, the Wildcats shared, “Terrence’s energy, smile, and love for the game were infectious. He may have only worn the Kentucky jersey for a short time, but his spirit continues to live on in everything we do.”

Head Coach John Calipari, who grew especially close to Clarke, added, “There’s not a day that goes by we don’t think about Terrence. He had dreams bigger than basketball, and we’ll forever be inspired by his drive and heart.”

As part of the memorial, the Wildcats announced a scholarship in Clarke’s name, aimed at supporting young athletes from underrepresented communities—a testament to his life and values.

Though gone too soon, Terrence Clarke remains a beloved member of Big Blue Nation, his legacy forever etched in the heart of Kentucky basketball.
