In a powerful display of leadership and compassion off the field, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has committed $3.6 million of his personal wealth to transform a historic building in downtown Cleveland into a state-of-the-art shelter for homeless youth.
The initiative, announced early this morning, will repurpose the long-vacant Franklin Street landmark into a 24/7 facility offering safe housing, meals, mental health services, and educational support for youth facing homelessness. Stefanski, known for his quiet philanthropy, said the project is “about giving young people the safety, stability, and opportunity they deserve.”
“This city has embraced me and my family,” Stefanski said during a press conference. “This is just one way to give back and invest in the future of Cleveland — our kids.”
The shelter, which will be named Franklin House, is expected to open by mid-2026 and will partner with local nonprofits and schools to provide wraparound services. Community leaders and fans alike are praising Stefanski’s commitment to social responsibility.
Mayor Justin Bibb called the investment “a game-changer,” noting that youth homelessness in Cleveland has surged in recent years. “Coach Stefanski is setting an example for leaders across the country,” Bibb said.
Construction is set to begin this fall, with plans already drawing attention from national media and philanthropic organizations interested in replicating the model.
