In a historic and emotional tribute, Duke University has unveiled a monumental bronze statue of former Blue Devils team captain Jamison Crowder outside Wallace Wade Stadium, honoring his legacy as one of the most electrifying and inspirational figures in program history.

The $3.5 million statue, which stands over 12 feet tall, depicts Crowder mid-stride — capturing the speed, determination, and leadership that defined his career. Crowder, who played for Duke from 2011 to 2014, was a two-time All-ACC selection and helped redefine the university’s football identity with his record-breaking performances and fierce competitive spirit.

Hundreds of fans, students, alumni, and former teammates gathered for the unveiling ceremony, where Crowder delivered an emotional speech reflecting on his journey from Monroe, North Carolina, to Duke stardom and eventually to a successful NFL career.

“This university gave me everything,” Crowder said. “To be honored in this way, at the place that shaped me as a player and a person, is truly humbling. I hope this statue reminds young athletes that hard work, belief, and resilience can take you far.”

Duke Athletic Director Nina King praised Crowder not only for his athletic accomplishments but also for his leadership and character. “Jamison Crowder led by example — on the field and in the locker room. This statue represents more than football; it stands for excellence, humility, and heart.”

The statue also features a digital interactive display, allowing fans to relive Crowder’s most iconic plays, interviews, and milestones from his time at Duke and beyond.

As Duke football continues to build its future, Crowder’s legacy will now stand forever at the stadium’s gates — a towering reminder of what it means to be a Blue Devil.
