In a powerful tribute to one of the most iconic figures in franchise history, the Pittsburgh Steelers have unveiled a multimillion-dollar statue of former team captain Troy Polamalu outside Acrisure Stadium, immortalizing the Hall of Fame safety’s legacy in steel and stone.
The larger-than-life statue, standing nearly 12 feet tall, captures Polamalu mid-play—his trademark flowing hair, intense focus, and game-changing presence frozen in time. The project, reportedly costing $4.5 million, was funded through a mix of private donors, team ownership, and fan contributions, underscoring the deep admiration the Steelers community holds for the legendary defender.
Polamalu, who played for the Steelers from 2003 to 2014, was a cornerstone of the team’s defense during its most successful modern era. He helped lead the Steelers to two Super Bowl titles, earned eight Pro Bowl selections, and was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2010.
Team President Art Rooney II spoke at the unveiling ceremony, calling Polamalu “not only one of the greatest players to ever wear the black and gold, but one of the finest men to represent this organization.”
An emotional Polamalu addressed the crowd of thousands gathered for the event: “This city gave me everything—my career, my family’s second home, and a brotherhood I’ll never forget. I’m honored beyond words.”
The statue now stands alongside other Steelers legends outside the stadium, serving as a symbol of excellence, humility, and the warrior spirit that defined Polamalu’s career. Fans and former teammates alike view the monument as a fitting tribute to a player whose heart was as impactful as his hits.
