The Big Blue Nation came together in full force today to honor one of its most beloved basketball icons — Tayshaun Prince, who celebrated his 45th birthday.
Prince, a standout forward for the Kentucky Wildcats from 1998 to 2002, was known for his silky smooth jump shot, lockdown defense, and unshakable composure on the court. During his time in Lexington, he earned SEC Player of the Year honors and etched his name in the Wildcats’ history books as one of the program’s all-time greats.
To mark the occasion, the University of Kentucky basketball program shared a heartfelt tribute video on social media, featuring highlights from Prince’s legendary career, along with birthday wishes from former teammates, coaches, and fans.
“Happy Birthday to a true Wildcat legend,” read a post from Kentucky Men’s Basketball on X (formerly Twitter). “Tayshaun Prince gave us unforgettable moments and continues to make BBN proud.”
Fans also took to social media to express their appreciation, sharing memories of Prince’s iconic five consecutive three-pointers against North Carolina and his leadership on and off the court.
After college, Prince enjoyed a successful 14-year NBA career, including winning an NBA Championship with the Detroit Pistons in 2004. Despite his professional achievements, he has always remained a proud son of Kentucky, regularly returning to campus and supporting the next generation of Wildcats.
As he celebrates another year, the Big Blue Nation salutes Tayshaun Prince — a true Wildcat forever.
