It’s Now Official: South Carolina Gamecocks Release Comprehensive Team Roster, But Huge Twist Sets In as Some Key Names Are Missing

The South Carolina Gamecocks have officially announced their full roster for the 2025 football season, revealing a mix of experienced players and fresh talent. However, the announcement came with a surprising twist: several high-profile players are notably absent.

Among the missing is linebacker Bam Martin-Scott, who opted to enter the 2025 NFL Draft after being denied an additional year of NCAA eligibility. Martin-Scott has since signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent, marking a significant loss for the Gamecocks’ defensive unit.

Quarterback Dante Reno, who saw limited action last season, has entered the NCAA transfer portal and is exploring options elsewhere. Reno, son of Yale head coach Tony Reno, retains multiple years of eligibility, raising questions about his next destination.

Running back Mario Anderson, a key contributor since transferring from Newberry College, also entered the transfer portal after last season, leaving a gap in the Gamecocks’ backfield depth.

Additionally, cornerback Emory Floyd and offensive tackle Kam Pringle have left the program, both entering the spring transfer portal. Floyd struggled with injuries last year, while Pringle had limited playing time.

Despite these departures, the roster highlights the return of quarterback LaNorris Sellers, expected to lead the offense with experience and leadership. The team also features promising newcomers who could step up to fill the voids.

Head Coach Shane Beamer addressed the situation, saying, “Every season brings changes. We’re focused on building a cohesive, competitive team that can face any challenge. Our roster reflects that commitment.”

The absence of these key players has stirred considerable discussion among fans and analysts, with many eager to see how the Gamecocks will adjust on the field.

As the team prepares for the upcoming season, updates on player developments and lineup changes are expected. Stay tuned for the latest on South Carolina
