Kentucky Wildcats standout Otega Oweh has cemented his place in college basketball history by winning both the 2025 Bob Cousy Award and the Midseason John R. Wooden Award. These honors recognize him as not only the nation’s best point guard but also one of the most outstanding overall players in NCAA basketball this season.
Oweh has been a driving force behind Kentucky’s stellar run, averaging 18.5 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game. His efficient scoring—48.5% from the field and 38.5% from beyond the arc—paired with his leadership on the court, has made him an indispensable figure in the Wildcats’ lineup.
“His work ethic, humility, and basketball IQ are off the charts,” said Kentucky head coach Mark Pope. “Otega elevates everyone around him, and these awards reflect the kind of impact he’s had this season.”
The Bob Cousy Award, presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, honors the top point guard in the country, while the Wooden Award is among the most prestigious individual honors in college basketball.
Oweh’s achievements underscore his elite status in the NCAA and mark a proud moment for Kentucky basketball fans. As March Madness intensifies, all eyes will be on Oweh to see if he can cap off his award-winning season with a national title.
