College Basketball Rankings: Kentucky Wildcats Join Top 25 in Latest NCAA rankings After Late Addition of International Prospect

The Kentucky Wildcats have climbed into the CBS Sports’ “Top 25 And 1” college basketball rankings following the surprise late addition of a highly regarded international prospect to their 2025 recruiting class.

John Calipari’s squad received a major boost after securing a commitment from Luka Petrović, a 6-foot-10 forward from Serbia who had previously been weighing professional options in Europe. Petrović, known for his versatility, shot-blocking ability, and court vision, brings immediate impact potential to a young but talented Kentucky roster.

The Wildcats were previously on the cusp of the rankings, but Petrović’s commitment vaulted them into the No. 24 spot. Recruiting analysts note that his addition addresses a major need in the frontcourt, adding depth and international experience that could prove crucial in March.

“He’s a game-changer,” said recruiting analyst Evan Daniels. “Petrović isn’t just tall and athletic—he has a high basketball IQ and plays with poise beyond his years. Kentucky fans should be excited.”

This marks the Wildcats’ return to the rankings after a rollercoaster 2024-25 season and a busy offseason of roster retooling. With a mix of incoming freshmen, returning sophomores, and now international talent, Kentucky appears poised to reassert itself as a national contender.

Petrović is expected to join the team in Lexington later this month and begin workouts ahead of summer training camp.
