The Kentucky Wildcats are making waves in the college basketball world once again—this time through the transfer portal.
CBS Sports released its list of the top winners in the 2025 NCAA basketball transfer portal, and the University of Kentucky claimed the No. 1 spot. The Wildcats have aggressively retooled their roster under new head coach Mark Pope, bringing in a mix of seasoned veterans and high-potential transfers who are expected to make an immediate impact.
Among the most notable additions are former BYU standout Jaxson Robinson, elite scorer Oumar Ballo from Arizona, and top defensive guard Kerr Kriisa. Together, they bolster a roster that had several key departures but is now projected to be one of the most balanced and dangerous teams in the country.
CBS Sports analysts praised Kentucky’s recruiting strategy, highlighting the program’s ability to not only attract top talent but also to address roster needs with surgical precision.
“This is a total overhaul, and Kentucky nailed it,” wrote CBS analyst Matt Norlander. “They’ve reloaded with experienced players who fit Mark Pope’s system, and that gives them a real shot at SEC contention right away.”
After a disappointing finish in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, the Wildcats have sent a clear message: they’re not rebuilding—they’re reloading. With this new-look roster, Kentucky fans have every reason to be optimistic heading into the 2025-26 season.
