The Kentucky Wildcats are turning back the clock\u2014and strengthening their bench\u2014with another major alumni hire. Just weeks after NBA All-Star John Wall joined the coaching staff, the Wildcats have announced that DeMarcus Cousins, a former Kentucky standout and longtime NBA veteran, will also be joining the program as a special assistant to the head coach.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Cousins, who played alongside Wall during Kentucky\u2019s electrifying 2009\u201310 season under John Calipari, brings a wealth of professional experience and on-court intensity to a Wildcats team looking to reclaim national dominance.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cI owe a lot to Kentucky, and I\u2019m thrilled to come back in this new role,\u201d Cousins said during a press conference on Monday. \u201cCoach Cal gave me a platform when I was young, and now it\u2019s my turn to give back\u2014to help guide and mentor the next generation of Cats.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Wall, who was hired earlier this month as a player development coach, welcomed the move, noting the duo’s chemistry and shared commitment to the program. \u201cBoogie\u2019s IQ and passion for the game are second to none,\u201d Wall said. \u201cThese players are about to learn a lot.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Coach Calipari expressed his excitement as well. \u201cWe\u2019re building something special with people who know what it means to wear Kentucky blue.
