After three decades of loyal service, one of the Kentucky Wildcats\u2019 most respected and influential backroom staff members, Mike Reynolds, has officially announced his retirement, marking the end of an era for the University of Kentucky athletics program.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Reynolds, who joined the Wildcats in 1995 as an assistant equipment manager and eventually rose to the role of Director of Football Operations, has been a cornerstone of the team’s internal structure. Though not often in the public eye, his contributions behind the scenes were vital to the Wildcats’ growth and stability across multiple coaching eras.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cMike has been the heart and soul of our operation for as long as I\u2019ve been here,\u201d said head coach Mark Stoops. \u201cHis attention to detail, work ethic, and ability to connect with players and staff made him truly irreplaceable. We owe him more than words can express.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Known for his meticulous approach and unwavering commitment, Reynolds played a key role in organizing everything from training camps and game-day logistics to mentoring young staff and managing player support services. Colleagues say he was the \u201cunsung hero\u201d of the program\u2019s evolution over the past 30 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Former Wildcats quarterback Terry Wilson shared on social media: \u201cBig love to Mike Reynolds. No one worked harder for us behind the scenes. His dedication never went unnoticed.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Reynolds reflected on his career with humility: \u201cIt\u2019s been an incredible ride. I\u2019ve been lucky to work with great people and even better athletes. Kentucky has been home for 30 years, and I\u2019ll always bleed blue.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n He plans to enjoy retirement with his wife, travel more, and stay connected with the program in an advisory capacity.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The University of Kentucky will honor Reynolds with a ceremony during the opening game of the 2025 football season at Kroger Field.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
